Welcome to the Tourism Consultants Network
The Tourism Consultants Network was formed in 1989 to represent the specific interests of the Society's consultant members. One of the drivers in its development was the growing number of requests from companies, organisations and individuals wanting to locate expertise in specialist areas of tourism work. Trying to identify quality operators was difficult but the Tourism Consultants Network has become the focal point of such expertise. Information on joining the Tourism Consultants Network.
Looking for a Consultant?
Tourism is vibrant industry and covers so many diverse disciplines it is sometimes quite difficult to pinpoint the company or individual best able to meet your exact requirements. On the web site the database of consultants covers over 100 people with a wide range of expertise covering 15 different disciplines - and the database is growing all the time. There is, in addition, a related website, which focuses on overseas expertise. If you know the name of the person or company already then it will be easy to locate them. If you know the discipline that you wish to cover then it may take a little longer but the descriptions of the work of consultants will help. If you feel that you have not got a good match to your requirements then it is always best to speak to a consultant. Whilst some work for large companies, many work on their own or in small groups, some of which are brought together for specific projects Through their contacts they will be able to give further guidance and you may be able to get a better lead to help with the work that you have in mind. If all else fails please contact the Tourism Society office and we will do our best to help. If you have any comments to help us improve our service please use the link below to send us your requests and views.
For Consultants
Membership is open to all consultants who work in the tourism industry. Tourism includes a very wide range of sectors and disciplines and no one is knowledgeable on everything, which is where the Tourism Consultants Network adds value. Your expertise may cover large-scale issues or be a particular niche product. Whatever it is that you offer this is the place to publicise your particular skills. To be a member of the Tourism Consultants Network you first have to be a member of the Tourism Society, the fees for which are shown under the site's membership section. As a member of the Society you can then apply to be a member of the Tourism Consultants Network, for which there is an annual registration fee of £30.00. Most importantly there is a commitment to sign and honour the "Declaration of Good Practice" and work is being undertaken to investigate appropriate additional accreditation. A Steering Committee organises activities that cover four areas:
Promoting the services of members through contacts with other organisations including an entry on the web site, the Directory (which aims to publish every two years) and at briefings to overseas delegations and other organisations
Raising the profile of the group wherever and whenever possible
Acting as a voice on issues of direct concern to tourism consultants such as Government registration schemes and appointment and tendering procedures
Organising meetings on topics relevant to this special interest group - recent workshops have investigated the needs of the emerging China market and some of the issues around applying to the Heritage Lottery Fund.
We look forward to welcoming you into the Tourism Consultants Network!

Testimonial
"Flo, I recently had the need to identify a Japanese speaking consultant for a project we have in Asia . When you circulated the Tourism Consultants Network network I was impressed that this generated over 8 potential contacts, and I was able to link with a consultant who had exactly the specialised skills we were looking for. This highlights the strength of Tourism Consultants Network and is a confirmation that membership of Tourism Consultants Network can generate work directly for members."
