Before setting up the Destination Marketing Group in 2000, I was the Director of Tourism, Marketing and Leisure Services for Gloucester City Council, during which time I won the Public Sector Manager of the Year award and Gloucester was voted Tourism Destination of the Year.
As a tourism and travel industry consultant, and between 2000 and 2005, I provided marketing and PR support to VisitBritain and many UK Regional Tourist Boards, cities and local authority destinations.
From 2005 to 2010 I also specialised in urban regeneration marketing and won tenders to provide marketing and PR support to the Gloucester Heritage Urban Regeneration Company (attracting £500m to the city in five years), English Partnerships/the Homes and Communities Agency and Enterprise Europe Network, etc.
I have also studied and written about Business Improvement Districts in New York and worked for several UK BIDs and tourism-related economic development projects during this time.
From 2010 onwards, I have specialised in International Representation, providing marketing and PR support to overseas tour operators, travel companies and government agencies in Chile, Ecuador, Peru, the USA, India, Switzerland, Germany and other EU countries.
Still based in Gloucestershire and with offices within the precincts of Gloucester Cathedral, I am a London School of Journalism trained writer, copywriter and journalist and I have an MBA in International Tourism Management from Bournemouth University.
