Consultant Experience

Roger Goodacre is an experienced tourism development consultant who specialises in the planning, development and marketing of tourism destinations, particularly in emerging markets. He is employed regularly as a technical expert and project leader by the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and other international organisations, development agencies and consultancy firms.

Most recently his work has involved revising and updating the Government of Armenia's national tourism development strategy; leading multi-disciplinary teams in drafting a new tourism policy and 10-year tourism master plan for the Government of Uganda; implementing a tourism master plan in the State of Punjab (India); and drafting the marketing, cultural heritage and community-based tourism strategies for the Government of Rwanda. For the Government of Saudi Arabia, he wrote the long-term marketing and development strategies for three of the country’s major provinces (Riyadh, Makkah and Al Baha), and drafted the first marketing strategy for the 2000km Red Sea Coast.

Roger has more than 35 years’ experience in the tourism sector, including extensive field experience of destination marketing with the British Tourist Authority (in the UK, Netherlands and France), and as marketing manager of the London Tourist Board. Bilingual in English and French, he has handled more than 30 short and long-term assignments in over 15 years of consultancy experience, in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia.

Roger is a Fellow of The Tourism Society, and since 2012 has been Chairman of the Tourism Consultants Network, Europe's leading association of tourism consultants.
