May 2007 – present; Advisor private group of hotels (Originally 7 hotels including 2 London units, 2 with international franchise, 4 marketing consortium), raising revenue from circa £11M to £13.5M major achievements during this period include;
Oversaw transition of 120 bed hotel from mid-3 star to international standard 4 star including assisting with raising finance for and creating specification for £5M refurbishment. Profit at this hotel has almost trebled during this period from £700K to £2M
Implemented group management & reporting procedures raising operational standards and profitability
Developed a management contract division that worked closely with Best Western Hotels
Other private and public sector organisations include; Tourism Partnership North Wales (Sense of Place workshops), specialist consultants to WRAP (reducing food waste), CANTATA, North Wales Tourism Ltd, Ignite Hospitality, Ashley & Newey, Savoy Trust, TQS, GAA Walking with Offa, Specialist advisor and consultant to Cumbria Tourism.
Barsby Associates are delighted to be appointed as consultants to WRAP Cymru permitting us to provide fully funded consultancies to organisations looking to reduce the creation of waste and waste going to landfill. Our expertise will help organisations identify how waste is being created, providing sensible and costed solutions. Our report will also assist organisations to apply for up to £50,000 of grant support for capital expenditure designed to reduce waste within the organisation and going to landfill
Barsby Associates worked with Wrexham County Borough Council delivering mentoring for the World Heritage Site Business Club. The project ran from September 2011 to December 2013 over 40 companies have received mentoring with many benefiting from successful grant applications.
Three associates; Eleri, Elizabeth and Neil are working with Adrian on the WHS mentoring programme having collaborated so well on the Flintshire Rural Development Partnership programme; Achieving the Potential of Tourism Mentoring Programme (project value almost £1M). Barsby Associates exceeded project outcomes and outputs; 94 enterprises received first class mentoring 43 of which received grants totalling £380K.

1994-present: Visiting lecturer, Manchester Metropolitan University, MSc students; Subjects: Marketing; Operational Management; Strategic Management and Planning; Sustainability; Consultancy for British Council 1997, 1998 & 1999 throughout Bulgaria. During 2011 - 2014 I have undertaken overseas assignments in Albania, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland, Romania and Russia in partnership with Manchester Metropolitan University and La Fondation pour la Formation Hoteliere (Savoy Trust) providing seminars for local SME’s and educationists. Content of seminars include; entrepreneurship, quality management, marketing, operational case studies and customer care.
Adrian Barsby; after being elected chair of Destination Flintshire at Decembers inaugural meeting of Destination Flintshire, “I’m honoured and am looking forward to the challenge, after promoting IQM for a number of years it is truly humbling to be given this opportunity to steer Flintshire through such an exciting period”. Destination Flintshire is a body set up to review and manage the counties visitor economy with visitors currently generating close to £200M per annum Adrian hopes to galvanise all interests to raise the value of tourism.
