London has long been established as the international gateway to the UK, with over half of all overseas visitors arriving via one of London’s airports. The success of London in the global tourism marketplace therefore has a major impact on the performance of the UK tourism economy. Maximizing and capitalizing on London’s role as a gateway to the rest of the UK by overseas visitors is mentioned as a key objective in both the LDA’s 2006-2016 ‘Tourism Vision’ and the 2006-2009 ‘Tourism Action Plan’.
The funding for this objective has now been taken away by DCMS so it is now more important than ever for the tourism industry to work in partnership to maximize London’s role as the gateway for inbound tourism. This event therefore aims to provide a platform for discussion to discover how the industry can work in partnership with Visit London to achieve this objective. If you work for an operator, hotelier, attraction, regional tourist office or transport provider and are currently working with Visit London or independently this event could help increase your business. Networking with refreshments will be provided.
