Juliet explained that they are a costa franchise which started in 2004 with 4 employees and grew to four more sites and 65 employees which resulted in a recruitment headache. In June 2006 a skills broker visited the shop and, as Juliet was unavailable, left her card and eventually persuaded her to meet up to discuss her options. Through this broker, Juliet was put in touch with her local training providers which happened to be her local college for hygiene and food safety training for her management team. With a growing workforce, training is vital to Juliet's business and the team can work at their own pace to NVQ level 3 qualifications in team leading and management. As a result, Juliet has noticed that staff retention has grown.
