‘The Changing Shape of the UK Visitor Economy
New Challenges and Opportunities for Tourism Professionals'

The structure, regulation and promotion of tourism in the UK are continually evolving, in response to changes both in government policy and market conditions. This event will be of special interest to anyone professionally involved in the planning, development, management and marketing of tourism destinations, services and attractions in England.
TCN is bringing together senior representatives of the Local Government Association, VisitEngland, and the Tourism Alliance for what will be an invaluable insight into forthcoming developments and opportunities.

Our confirmed speakers are:

1. Cllr Peter Golds (Member, LGA Culture, Tourism and Sports Board)
Cllr Peter Golds will talk about the changing role of local authorities in supporting and growing the visitor economy, including recently commissioned research into how Local Authorities can best support tourism businesses in the area of skills, rather than marketing as they have historically. The report is due to be published in March 2019, and Cllr Vernon-Jackson will report on the early indicative findings and set out why the LGA is doing this work and the importance they attach to the sector.

2. Kurt Janson – (Director, Tourism Alliance)
Kurt Janson will give a topical update on developments in Government policy and regulations that will have a direct impact on all regions and sectors. Essential information for an informed understanding of official funding and regulatory thinking.

3. Lyndsey Turner-Swift – (VisitEngland, Head of England Planning and Delivery)
Lyndsey Turner-Swift will provide an update on the first three years of the Discover England Fund, successes and learnings and how they are shaping
