Juliana Delaney joins speaker line-up at the Tourism Symposium

Juliana Delaney, CEO at Continuum Attractions, is the latest speaker to join panellists at the Tourism Symposium in Edinburgh on 5 and 6 June. Delaney will deliver an inspirational TEDx-style presentation on ‘employees first, customers second’ drawing on her experience of managing a number of key attractions across the UK.

The Tourism Symposium, organised by the Tourism Society, will explore the topic of ‘Heritage and Innovation: the future of tourism’ and Delaney will join other notable speakers including Ty Speer (President and CEO, Tourism Vancouver), Taleb Rifai (Secretary General, UNWTO), Bob Palmer (former Director, Council of Europe), Julia Amour (Director, Festivals Edinburgh) and Anthony Pickles (Head of Tourism Affairs, VisitBritain).

Discovery Tours on Monday 5 June will give delegates the opportunity to explore the UNESCO heritage sites of both Edinburgh and Glasgow, followed by a networking reception in the evening. Tuesday 6 June will feature a full day of conference discussions and panels, covering subjects including Future destination leaders: investing in future talent, Cities as Gateways for Rural Exploration, Living Laboratories - What can festivals and event trends tell us about the future of tourism, The Power of Innovation & Collaboration, and Tourism and Culture: the past and the future.

Delaney commented: “At Continuum the ‘Employees first, customer second’ approach is at the absolute core of our business. The understanding that ‘people make places’ has undoubtedly led to Continuum’s success and is a strategy I believe is integral to any business in the tourism industry, and something that will appeal to all the Symposium delegates.”

Gregory Yeoman, Executive Director at The Tourism Society, said: “Juliana is a very engaging speaker and an excellent addition to the Symposium. Her insights into staff motivation and leadership will be fascinating.”

The Tourism Symposium is the only UK-based industry-wide conference and is a must-attend event for anyone wanting to hear the latest ideas and developments from across Tourism. Bookings can be made via the Tourism Society website http://www.tourismsociety.org/event-details/676/tourism-symposium-2017.htm. ScotRail are offering free travel on their network for delegates.

The Symposium is supported by Arts Council England, ScotRail, VisitScotland, Family Holiday Association, English Heritage Cities, Marketing Edinburgh, Scottish Enterprise and Edinburgh Napier University.
