Fashion industry gurus Clara Mercer and Hilary Riva OBE to speak at Tourism Symposium in Liverpool
Two of the fashion world’s most prominent figures, Clara Mercer, Head of Marketing, British Fashion Council and Hilary Riva OBE, former Chief Executive of the British Fashion Council, will participate in an “in conversation” session at The Tourism Society’s Tourism Symposium taking place in Liverpool on 3rd June as part of the International Festival for Business. The session will be sponsored by Bicester Village, one of the collection of Chic Outlet Shopping Villages.
The pair will be interviewed by John Kampfner, Director of the Creative Industries Federation and Chair of Turner Contemporary and discuss the history, impact and success that London Fashion Week has had both within the UK and overseas. In this context they will also touch upon the importance of fashion to the British economy.
“The Tourism Society is fortunate to have secured Clara and Hilary’s agreement to speak at the Symposium for what promises to be a most informative session on how an industry can generate such value for Brand Britain,” said Sandra Matthews-Marsh, Chairman of The Tourism Society. “We are indebted to Bicester Village for its sponsorship of this session,” she added.
The theme of the Symposium is ‘The role of tourism and culture in creating economic success.’ A powerful line up of speakers will explore how more productive and creative ties can be formed between professionals across the tourism, arts and cultural sectors. The first event of its kind, the Symposium will put these sectors right at the heart of the conversation about the generation of business, growth, employment and professional development.
