Tourism Society Scotland Welcomes a New Chair

Monday June 02, 2014

Tourism Society Scotland elected a new Chair, Helen Adams at its AGM this summer. Helen, Marketing Manager at Transport for Edinburgh has sat on the committee for three years in roles including Secretary and Vice Chair.

Helen joined the Tourism Society as a postgraduate student in 2010 while studying Heritage and Cultural Tourism Management at Edinburgh Napier University. She first attended an AGM in spring 2011 while working at the Edinburgh Dungeon, and has sat on the committee ever since.

Helen takes over from Carole Sherlock who was Tourism Society Scotland’s Chair for three years. Highlights from Carole’s term as Chair include an event exploring destination marketing organisations, presentations on the success of the 2009 VisitScotland Homecoming campaign and the launch of a now annual fixture: the tourism trends event.

Priorities for Helen include streaming Tourism Society events north of the border, boosting student and academic membership and delivering a varied and appealing events programme to add value for Tourism Society members based in Scotland.

Helen looks forward to working with her twelve-strong committee who between them have over 200 years experience of working in tourism.
