The Tourism Society is delighted to announce that its chairman, Sandra Matthews-Marsh, was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours. Matthews-Marsh has been chairman of the Tourism Society since December 2013 and played a major role in organising its recent highly successful Tourism Symposium in Liverpool earlier this month. She is also Chief Executive of Visit Kent, a position she has held for 10 years. Speaking about her award, Matthews-Marsh was quick to recognise the contribution of her team in Kent, saying: “This honour celebrates their tireless work which has created the successful and innovative partnerships and support networks that deliver tourism services for our visitors and our businesses.”
Tourism Society Fellow Lady Cobham, Chairman of VisitEngland, was also awarded a CBE in the List.
