TOURISM SOCIETY WELCOMES NEW GOVERNMENT APPOINTMENTS
Hopes that Tourism Minister’s tenure will be longer than most
The Tourism Society has welcomed the DCMS appointments of John Whittingdale as Secretary of State and Tracey Crouch, as Tourism Minister.
Sandra Matthews-Marsh MBE, Chairman of the Tourism Society said: "We congratulate John Whittingdale and Tracey Crouch on their appointments and look forward to working with them. Both have a track record of showing support for the industry and we will be keeping them appraised of the views of our members on tourism issues.
“The new Government's five year term will prove to be extremely interesting for the tourism industry with major projects such as airport expansion and HS1 in the spotlight. These are just two of the topics that will be debated at the forthcoming Tourism Symposium, 1-2 June, in Kent.
“ It is also the Society's hope that the new Tourism Minister's tenure will be a long one by comparison to past appointments to this post," she added.
