Enterprise UK is introducing an exciting new tourism competition for Further Education students. We are looking for businesses who would like to get involved in return for promotion.
Start Up: Travel and Tourism (SU:T&T) is a nationwide, high profile initiative. Students will be challenged to submit their ideas for a tourism business in their local area. Successful entrants will be guided by ‘stepping stones’ to develop the Marketing and Finance aspect of their businesses. These will consist of real and online seminars and tools, followed by participants submitting a relevant plan. Regional winners will then be invited to run their business, with their results presented at a major industry event. The aim of the competition is to provide learners with the skills and confidence to be enterprising, and enable a number of them to start-up and operate their businesses.
“Start Up: Travel and Tourism is an amazing opportunity for college students to get backing for an idea of theirs and have an adventure at the same time!”
Ben Keene, Founder, Tribewanted.
“Competitions like this were not available when I was studying. As an entrepreneur I welcome anything that gives people hands on experience and it is great to see college students being given the opportunity to start a business in the area they are passionate about.”
Tom Marchant, Co-Founder, Black Tomato
Enterprise UK is looking for tourism businesses who would like to contribute expertise to the competition. This could be in the form of a visit to a college, some e-mentoring, production of resources, provision of prizes; or you could have an idea yourself about how to share skills with college students. We can return the favour by promoting your business on our website and in press releases.
If you would like to contribute in any way, or are interested in hearing more, please contact Luc Benyon on 0207 430 8071 or luc@enterpriseuk.org, or visit www.enterpriseuk.org for more information.
