ADVICE FOR TRAVEL PR'S AT TOURISM SOCIETY EVENT

Keep stories short and focused was the message from four key travel journalists and editors at a 'Meet the Media' event hosted by The Tourism Society in association with TravMedia

Over a hundred PR professionals met at The Bonnington Hotel, sponsors of this year's event, which was chaired by Henry Hemming, TravMedia's Managing Director

The panel, which included Ed Grenby, Editor of the Sunday Times Travel Magazine, broadcaster Alison Rice and freelance travel journalists Anthony Lambert and Claire Gervat, offered delegates some do's and don'ts for getting their stories into print or on radio or television.

Key among these was the plea to use email, keep it brief and to the point, and think hard about whether the story or feature was likely to be relevant to the journalist, publication or programme.

Thanking the speakers for their frank advice, The Tourism Society's Ken Robinson said this was the second such meeting the Society had arranged and it looked set to become an annual event. 'As with all Tourism Society meetings, this event gives our industry professionals the chance to talk to each other and to their peers, which can only be to the benefit of tourism.'ournalist, publication or programme.
