TOURISM SOCIETY WALES ANNUAL AWARD WINNERS ANNOUNCED
Tourism Society Wales held the 'Annual Summer Lunch and Awards' on Friday 27 th June 2008 at Fonmon Castle in the Vale of Glamorgan. Tim Giles was awarded the 'Lifetime Achievement Award' and Lee Elwell won the 'Outstanding Young Professional Award'.
Tim Giles was the lead figure in revitalising and reforming the Carmarthenshire Tourist Association. His nomination stated that "his contribution to Tourism in Carmarthenshire particularly and in West Wales generally has been prodigious and unique".

Lee Elwell, National Projects Manager, Tourism Training Forum for Wales (TTFW), said that winning the award came as 'a compete surprise' . Lee was nominated for the award by a colleague at TTFW who said that Lee is "...a supportive colleague who is liked and respected by the rest of the TTFW team, and has established excellent working relationships with TTFW's partners and clients. I believe he has the motivation and ability to go make a great contribution to Welsh tourism at a senior level and would be a worthy recipient of this Award".

John Walsh-Heron FTS, Chairman of Tourism Society Wales, commented: "Both are worthy winners of the only tourism award in Wales which acknowledges the achievement of individuals who have made a substantial contribution to the professionalism of the industry" .
