Presenting the award, John Walsh-Heron FTS, Chair of Tourism Society Wales, said:

“The Lifetime Achievement Award acknowledges an individual’s outstanding contribution to tourism in Wales.  As first Chief Executive of the Wales Tourist Board, Harold Naylor played a key role in the development of the tourism in Wales and significantly improved the status and credibility of the  industry. This award is an accolade for a professional from professionals in tourism.”

Accepting the award, Harold expressed his pleasure and surprise, pointing out that as first of the national boards, a year ahead of England, Wales Tourist Board had no role model to follow and paid tribute to the team who had worked with him.
