Tourism Society Chapters

(For information about the Society's professional section follow the links to the Tourism Consultants Network page.)

There are a number of active Tourism Society Chapters across the UK and also in Europe. These act as a great focus for local interests as well as providing opportunities for members to get together and disuss topics brought up in central Society events that they might not have been able to attend in person. Chapter events are all listed on the main events calendar.
If you would like to establish a chapter in your area please contact the Secretariat for information.

Tourism Society Scotland
Tourism Society Scotland (TSS) represents members from all sectors of travel and tourism and enjoys the support of a large committee as it strives to add value to Scotland-based Society members. The Scottish Chapter aims to deliver interesting and informative events on a range of topics that are designed to keep members’ industry knowledge up to date while also providing opportunities for networking. The opinions of members are regularly voiced – the Scottish Chapter was pleased to contribute articles for Tourism around the 2014 Scottish Referendum. Consultations are responded to as TSS seeks to contribute towards the tourism agenda in Scotland, and it has an active group on LinkedIn (click here) for discussions. For further information, please contact Elected Chair, Helen Adams MTS at scotland@tourismsociety.org.

Some activities are held in association with other professional bodies such as a Digital Marketing event, which was also of interest to members of the CIMA. The network has also introduced an annual award for an individual’s contribution to tourism in Wales. For further information, please contact jwalshheron@btconnect.com.

Tourism Society Westcountry
The Westcountry chapter launched in January 2014 to enable sharing of ideas, priorities and contacts amongst the many tourism professionals based in England’s far South West (Cornwall, Devon, West Dorset and Somerset). To date it has met once, in January 2014, with live streaming of the Prospects 2014 event from London. Ideas are now being bounced around over future events, which are likely to form a mix of ‘social’ gatherings and more formal ‘themed’ events. Ideas so far include a session focused on breaking into the US market, on opportunities around the Mayflower 2020 celebrations, and on those from the Rugby 2015 World Cup and activities in Exeter.
